Traffic Signal

I was standing at the traffic signal for the light to turn green. I looked at the small block situated nearby to the pedestrian walking. There were two small kids...maybe of 2-3 years of age. both were half naked. While one was walking all over that small blockade, the other one was sleeping. This is winter time so the other one was trying to cover itself with a small piece of green cloth. But the cloth was even smaller than his toddler height. His lower part was totally naked n he was trying his best to cover himself in that lil piece of cloth but couldn't. At the same time he was trying to sleep too. I felt so pity...I mean even I didn't hav any sweater on myself n i was riding bike, so I could understand how that poor little boy must be feeling.
I was soo much in desperate need of a shawl or blanket, I thought if I had one I would simply go and cover tht kid up.
The second thought that was coming up in my mind was what if I had a blanket with me, could I have really done it, what would the people around me say, what would they think, will there be people laughing at me, what if there are people from my office itself.

Then the traffic signal turned green, I looked at the sleeping child again and at once rushed to my home. I had decided what ever be the case I'm going to give some clothes to these poor people.
I didn't have a blanket to spare, but I had old clothes which I had planned to give to some NGO.
So, I thought how does it make a diff. if I give a few clothes to these kids, ultimately NGO would also be doing the same thing but I won't be there to see them donating.
So, I went to my room, opened up the cartoon that I had prepared to give to NGO., took out a pair of shirts n one t-shirt. I couldn't think of anything else, coz as per my height these clothes would be quite sufficient to cover them up. Plus these were jeans n heavy material so they would kip them warm.
I put them in a bag and drove back again. When I came to the spot back, it was traffic light again with exactly 71 secs remaining. By now their mother had come and she was begging to all the people waiting at the signal. I called her and said, if I give U clothes will u take them. I had to say this coz it had happened a couple of times before that when I give some food to eat they dont take it...even if they are starving they would still ask for money. She was in her usual self with a crying face and she nodded to what I said. I just took out my bag...I had this parallel thought going around me and I could see from the corner of my eye 100s of eyes from the bus, cars , auto rickshaws staring at me.
I was feeling like just give them the clothes and run away from these eyes.
I took out two shirts and gave it to her she waved that sleeping kid who was by now standing to take the clothes....My GOD...he giggled with happiness and clutched the clothes to his heart. That was the moment I could have given nethng for that little smile. I felt like crying and hugging him.
Then I tuk out the remaining one t-shirt and also gave it to him. He was soooo happy and excited(exactly teh same was as I used to do when my parents would gift me new clothes when I was a kid) like he had got his precious toy. And by that time there was still I guess 20 secs left. N I could see people behind me, in front of me n beside me were staring like hell to me. I put my helmet glass and started staring at the signal to go green. After his laugh I just didnt feel ne embrassament but happiness. I was so proud of myself that I did at least some thing good if not soo much but something worth living for.
N I'm back again to office sharing my thoughts!!...:D
